چکیده

Cu–Zn/γ–Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by the impregnation method. Catalytic activity was evaluated for N2O decomposition in a fixed bed reactor. The fresh and used catalysts were characterized by several techniques such as BET surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The Cu–Zn/γ–Al2O3 catalysts exhibit high activity and stability for N2O decomposition in mixtures simulating real gas from adipic acid production, containing N2O, O2, NO, CO2, and CO. Over the Cu–Zn/γ–Al2O3 catalysts, 100% of N2O conversion was obtained at about 601 ◦C at a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 7200 h−1. Cu–Zn/γ–Al2O3 catalysts also exhibited considerably good durability, and no obvious activity loss was observed in the 100 h stability test. The Cu–Zn/γ–Al2O3 catalysts are promising for the abatement of this powerful greenhouse gas in the chemical industry, particularly in adipic acid production.

Catalytic Decomposition of N2O over Cu–Zn/ZnAl2O4 Catalysts

The catalytic decomposition of N2O was investigated over Cu-Zn/ZnAl2O4 catalysts in the temperature range of 400–650 ◦C Catalytic samples have been prepared by wet impregnation method. Prepared catalysts were characterized using several techniques like BET surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The Cu-Zn/ZnAl2O4 showed higher catalytic performance along w...

Preparation and performance analysis of γ-Al2O3 supported Cu-Ru bimetallic catalysts for the selective Wet Air Oxidation of Aqueous Ammonia to Nitrogen.

Series of Copper Ruthenium (Cu-Ru) bimetallic catalysts supported on γ-Al2O3 with different metal loading are prepared and investigated for catalytic wet air oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen. The ammonia decomposition activity was studied at three different temperatures i.e. 150oC, 200oC, and 230 oC and it is found that catalytic activity increases with the increase in temperature along with th...

Effect of Ru Species on N2O Decomposition over Ru/Al2O3 Catalysts

Ru is considered as an effective active species for N2O decomposition; however, there is disagreement about which ruthenium species is key for catalytic activity. In order to understand the role of Ru species in N2O decomposition, Ru/Al2O3 (Ru/Al2O3-H2, Ru/Al2O3-NaBH4, Ru/Al2O3-air) catalysts with different ratios of metallic Ru were prepared and evaluated for their catalytic activities. Variou...

Counting of oxygen defects versus metal surface sites in methanol synthesis catalysts by different probe molecules.

Different surface sites of solid catalysts are usually quantified by dedicated chemisorption techniques from the adsorption capacity of probe molecules, assuming they specifically react with unique sites. In case of methanol synthesis catalysts, the Cu surface area is one of the crucial parameters in catalyst design and was for over 25 years commonly determined using diluted N2O. To disentangle...

Meso- and Nanostructuring of Industrial Cu/ZnO/(Al2O3) Catalysts

A concept is presented, which helps to rationalize the success of the industrially applied preparation route for Cu/ZnO/(Al2O3) catalysts. Many studies can be found in the open literature, which describe the critical dependency of the final catalyst’s properties on precursor chemistry. In line with previous reports, this concept identifies zincian malachite as the relevant precursor phase and i...
